I think now that everyone is talking about Lana Del Rey, I should, too.
But I'm not going to talk about what you think I am, I'm going to talk about her lips a lot.
Yup.
To get Lana Del Rey, you just have to a lot of fifties-appeal, a pinch of pin-up and stirr well, to serve with a sauce à la Hipstamatic. BOOM.
She's amazing, I really have to say. A bit Marina And The Diamonds, a bit Paloma Faith, and a lot of LANA DEL REY. Her music is kind of retro, something new, and totally my thing.
(In case you don't know her, which is humanly impossible, but well, click here to listen to Summertime Sadness on YouTube, the video is AMAZING.)
Last year, she kind of came out of nowhere and by now, everybody loves her - from Indie-kids to Mainstream people, even my Mum likes her music. She's basically doing everything right.
But you do have to think about the fact that she's sort of an art project, if you will.
Her musical success came when she had her lips done - before that, when she was still Lizzy Grant, she flopped.
I don't know maybe that's a coincidence. Maybe not.
But if not, isn't that just awful?
Holywood, Home of Plastic Fantastic, where botox and a boob job are daily business. Nice title, huh? Every picture, in magazines or on the TV, is photoshopped. The exclusive-club Hollywood has its rules, and we all know that. If you're pretty, you're in. If you're not, you let youself be made pretty. The uniform for success seems to be a mix of botox, liposuctions, collagen, and nose jobs. If you want to play with the upper ten-thousand, you need to bring the right moulds to the sandpit.
Of course, not everyone does it à la Cut Face Crowd, like Meg Ryan or Lindsay Lohan. (Yeah, honey, I know what you did last summer.) Lana Del Rey still looks natural - by the way, she got her lip job from her first paycheck. Not a lot of people know that she actually got a single (Kill Kill) out in 2008 - as Lizzy Grant, with white-blonde hair and her first set of lips. Nobody wanted to buy it.
The sad thing is that it's not going to stop being that way.
You're pretty, you can go.
You're not - stay home with Mama.
And especially we, you know, as teenage girls, are SO influenced by what we see (it's actually true, even though our mothers say it), and by now - be honest - we all know at least one person who's "had something done".
But we should really leave the surgery to those who made them famous, the Hollywood crowd. You know, where there's eternal youth and beauty, and all that crap. (Sorry.)
Lana Del Rey's music is brilliant, and I'm sure it'd still be if she was still Lizzy Grant. But her way up yould ahve a few more red lights and diversions.
So yeah. Check her out, and best listen to Kill Kill as well. It's awesome.
Welcome, lovelies! Here you'll find just about anything that's awesome and ... well, awesome, and if not, write me an email (fia.giggles@gmail.com) Stay a while, laugh a bit, I only bite when I'm asked to. :)

Three turn ons and turn offs.
I've been asked this SO many times, and since the answer is really long, I thought I'd make it a post. BOOM.
- "What are three major turn ons and turn offs for you, and why?"
You mean, like, in a guy? Or in girls or what??? (Haha. Jokes.)
Turn ons: I think a real turn on is actually a beautiful personality. Pretty is who pretty does and all that mush. I mean, I've been crazy about guys who weren't good-looking or my type at all but who were my type personality-wise. I like guys who are funny and even a bit childish because then I can, I dunno, pamper them a bit. Cause I like cooking and such. But they still have to be protective. So yeah. Personality. (That was way too long.)
I don't know why, maybe it's because I'm so obsessed with it, but I always pay attention to other people's hair. I like guys with curls or just-got-out-of-bed-hair because you just want to run your hands through it. Hate blondes. I don't know why, I just don't like it if a guy has fairer hair than me.
A guy has to be older and taller than me. I'm pretty short (well, 5'5'' definitely isn't tall) so that's usually not a problem at all. And since I left out one year of school (because I'm such a genius) I'm always around older people, almost all of my friends are at least a year older than me. So I usually feel that people my age are pretty immature and ridiculous.
Turn offs: I don't like long hair - yeah this is about hair again. By long hair I mean that it's longer than, say, that spot below your ear where your jawline makes that turn (I dunno what it's called, I'm an idiot.) I mean, when it's dry. A lot of people with curls - as well as myself - have really long-looking hair when it's wet or straightened and normally, it looks really really short. Yeah.
I hate it when guys are too serious and don't have a sense of humour (yeah, personality...). That's really important because I joke around all the time and I'm very melodramatic. If a guy doesn't get my (or my besto's) sarcasm, he'll be insulted all the time...
Half of my childhood I spent first in a Christian kindergarten and then in fairly strict and disciplined Boarding Schools. Manners are SO important to me, even though you don't really notice. Farting, burping, and all that -ing stuff are absolutely disgusting! A guy without good manners doesn't have a chance. I mean, I'm one of these "Yes, Sir."-"Excuse me, Ma'am."-girls.

DIY - Round Friendship Bracelets.
Hiya!
Okay, since the summer is the time of holidays and leaving shcool (and your friends) as well as travelling and making new friends, I thought a friendship bracelet was a pretty awesome idea for this week's DIY.
BUT this friendship bracelet isn't a normal one but what I call a "round" one. I'm not sure if I invented it, I probably didn't, but I've never seen it on anyone else, even though it's really pretty and - most important - really easy! Even if you've never made a friendship bracelet before, you'll do perfectly fine.
They're quite plain, but look really interesting if you take wool that's mottles or multicoloured, as I did.
So this is what this type of friendship bracelet looks like in the end:
Personally I think it looks best in one colour only, but if you want to, you can just take different colours ans swap while braiding it. I guess. I've never tried. The wool I used was Lana Grossa Wool, but it doesn't really matter. The one I used was kind of a mixture of green and turquoise, which I think looks pretty cool.
So let's start with this beauty!!!
By the way, I always pin the bracelet to my jeans because that makes it easier for me to braid. You don't have to do that, but that's why the pictures look kind of strange. :)
Step 2) For the size I did you need four strings of the same length, which should be about three ot four times the length the bracelet should be, and one that is really long - at least 100 inches. After about three inches you know them all together and that's where you start with the bracelet.
It is really important that the long string is on one of the sides!!! I started on the left side - if you didn't, you'll have to start with step 4, go on until you finish step 5, and then start with step 2.
Step 2) You start by putting the long string over the second from the left side (that's the first shorter one). It should look like a 4.
Step 3) Now you loop the long string around the shorter one - it should look like on the picture. You now hold the shorter string down and pull on the long one until there is a firm knot. You have to pull pretty hard because it can't be loose - otherwise you won't get that nice 3D-shape.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 on all the strings, including the last one.
Step 4) You should already have made a knot on the last string (the first on the right) the way it is described in steps 2 and 3.
Now you put the long string over the shorter one again, only the other way around. the string should already lie that way. It should look like a D.
Step 5) Now loop the long string around the shorter one - it should look like in the picture. As you did in step 3, you hold on to the shorter string and pull firmly on the longer.
Now you make these kind of knots on every other string, including the first one! The outer strings always have to have two knots!
Continue doing steps 2 to 5 until the bracelet is long enough. then you can loose the big knot you made at the beginning and make a big knot with both ends, securing it on your - or your friend's wrist.
Badabing badaboom, that's how friendship bracelets are made!!!
Finished!
(sorry that picture is awful....)
YOU are WELCOME.
(haha)
My favourite summer photo 2012.
That awesome afternoon we spent outside, just drinking tea with ridiculously much milk and sugar, eating biscuits and making friendship bracelets. That is actually my favourite summer photo as of right now... and my favourite Jack Wills dress.
